I wish I had a nickel for every time I have consulted a Help file and found copious information but no answer to the simplest question: how to get to the window.  So, my question is: how do I switch from Main Play to Notation window?

The notation window is the window that appears whenever you enter the Methods, Exercises, or open a special Finale created .smp file that includes notation. It's not something you manually load yourself - it just comes up whenever there are files that have notes to show. Just to be clear, the main play window is the black window with the playback controls where you can go to File >> open and open a SmartMusic Accompaniment. Accompaniments you open from there do not usually have notation, so the notation window won't load (unless you open a file you created in Finale). As soon as you click the Methods or Exercises button, you are taken away from the Main Play Window and you'll see various exercises appear with their notation in the notation window.
