Can some one help me to understand why Finale still does not support 64 bit as it does o the Windows version. How long will the "you can always use the obsolete os to be able to use our long in the tooth 2014 32 bit version. java is using ver.8 update 65. Finale2014 requires the Legacy Java 6 because it doesn't support Mac OS 64 bit. I realize that you can install both versions of Java - Why.
I get that one may not want to be using the latest versions of anything as to not be a "Beta" tester, but we are two updates down the road and architecture and improved and changed.

I'm not sure that Finale is any different on Windows: it is still a 32-bit program, AFAIK.

OS X can run app that are 32-bit and apps that are 64-bit. I have plenty of 32-bit apps on my Macs, of which Finale is one. Finale requires Java for the MusicXML plug-in., and being a 32-bit app, it needs the 32-bit Java.

The forthcoming 2014.5 will address issues relating to running Finale on El Capitan.

The main difference in running 64 v. 32 is the amount of RAM you can access. Not knowing your setup and needs, it's hard to say if that would be helpful or not. I've never run out of RAM in Finale, even in dense, extended orchestral works, so it really doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned. If VIs are the issue, there are shells you can use to get them out of Finale. I don't think they will read the human Playback aspects (I could be wrong on that) but I don't use that feature.
