(In Finale 2008) I often attach chord symbols to syncopated melody, like the last eighth note of a bar. When i set the option "swing" in playback controls the chords play out of sync. whith the melody. It appears that the swing feel does not apply to the chord as it does to the melody.
Did anybody else become aware of the problem?
TIA
B.B.

Oh yes. I recently upgraded my Finale to version 2014 and the same problem persists. I really regret the "upgrade", not sure why it has been ignored all these years (among others, frankly).

Back in 2008 i informed them about the problem. I'm surprised that it's not fixed yet. (I still use the old version, did not upgrade since then).

I hadn't noticed this, but it doesn't surprise me. Honestly though, with all the serious fires MakeMusic has to put out that have severe impact on the functioning of the program, I doubt they will get to this at all.

I have never been happy with the chord symbol playback (they never voicelead correctly, or even acceptably, and they sound like a ham-fisted chimpanzee pounding on the keyboard, and don't get me started on the more sophisticated jazz chords!) so when the rhythm section plugin stopped functioning I just started putting in my own chord realisations and hiding them for playback purposes. I turn off Chord Playback in the Chord menu to prevent train wrecks.

I have found that the swing expression only applies to the top staff. Editing the staff list to apply it to all staves seems to work. (I can't help with instructions, though. I always have to go back to the instructions and fumble my way through it. Sorry.)

Best to turn off chord playback and write out what you want played. You can hide the notes, or else put in some slash notation.
