It crashes just as much as the previous version, meaning EVERY time I attempt to use human playback! Yes, I've spent weeks with tech support sending me on a goose chase, they can't solve it. I started files from scratch many times, cleaned out everything. Bought a new computer, different OS. Same constant crashing. And when I disable human playback, tempo markings are not respected. That at least worked in 14.5.
Or is it just me? | Back to Top

That was fixed in 2014.5 so we need more info. Finale 25, 2014.5, SmartScore X Pro II, Encore 5.07, GPO 5 2010 iMac i7, 32G RAM, 2T SSD, Late 2013 MacBook Air, OS 10.11.6 MOTU Digital Performer 9.1, 9.02, Logic Pro X 10.2.4Post Edited (MikeHalloran) : 9/6/2016 6:48:01 PM (GMT-5) | Back to Top

You probably tried this, but just in case: Go into Device Setup > Audio Setup and ensure that the audio driver is set to DirectSound. Arthur J. Michaels

Realizing I am the only one here with these problems I went through some significant trouble shooting. In 14.5 no matter how many times I redid a document from scratch there seemed to always be something corrupting my files. I entered elements little by little, trying to isolate an articulation or an expression or a gliss or font or something, and could never find the problem. Maybe it had to do with tempo changes. But starting from scratch in v 25 helped. I erased all my tempo markings and tempo changes in the expressions list and copied all the entries into a fresh document, and then manually adding fresh tempo changes. So far, so good, but of course I have lost all the page layout tweeking in all the parts (it's a lengthy symphonic work, so that's a bummer, but I'm doing a major revision, so so be it.)
So, I've fixed playback for this piece. We'll see how it goes with other documents.
My two computers are MacBook pro (2013) w Mavericks, and a new Imac 2015 w El Capitan. Sounds are all Garritan libraries. Nothing weird installed on any of the computers, plenty of memory and disk space.
I must say, now that it works for me, now it REALLY works! So I'll have to take back my topic "disappointed" to "happy camper".
But I can't upgrade my laptop to El Capitan to be able to run v25 because the version of ProTools I'm running is not officially compatible. I just installed ProTools 11 on the El Capitan computer anyhow, and even though it's incompatible, it seems to work OK, but I haven't tried it with large files yet.
How well does it work to bring documents back and forth between 14.5 and v 25? Other than mirroring and tempo tool data, that I now have eliminated, the files are compatible, as far as I understand. I'm testing going back and forth right now.
Again, thanks a lot for your help! | Back to Top

25 is good for many but, if you hit one of the bugs that requires you to open a file in 2014.5 to get something done, this may be an issue. Now I'm getting constant crashes again. I mean constant as in EVERY time I try to play back with human playback. I've started files from scratch over and over again. How do I post a crash log, please? | Back to Top
