Feeling discouraged here. Read the manual, tried to write my first script and it doesn't work.
Is there a specific procedure for figuring out which line is erroneous? What I want to do is change the font size
on my rehearsal numbers (text expressions).
I wrote this:

selection tool
double click
button "edit" near duplicate
menu item "text/size/18"
click "ok"
click "assign"

If I can learn FS it will SAVE MY LIFE! I've spent years doing repetitive tasks manually in Finale,
automating stuff would be heaven.

hm.... My understanding is that you try to double click on a Expression and change it's proprieties.

The problem you have is opening the expressions selection window using double click on an expression existing on the page. Finale can't to that as you do that by right clicking on the handle.

I suggest this script to be launched with a shortcut or pause comand before, so you have the mous placed where you need it:

(quick launch with the mouse in place or 2-3 pause comands to move the mouse once pressing play
selection tool
double click
pause
pause
pause
button "edit" near duplicate
menu item "text/size/18"
click "ok"
click "assign"/ click "Cancel"

In the second pause commands (which you can add more to increase time) you scroll trough the expression selection windows to the one needed to modify
I Haven't yet figured how to script a selection of expression in that windows and am in a rush.

If the expression is already in the score use the 'click "cancel"' command to close the windows, since it will save and modify the expression in the score without reassigning a new one.
