Please help!! My errant brother has
erased all of his music files (Finale 3.0)
and emptied the trash... On trying to
recover them with Norton Utilities I can
get all of the resources with the names of
the files (in the form Name.rsrc) and data
files (Finale3.0 #number) but they don't
seem to join properly. Is there a special
way that finale files match data and
resource files up that can resurrect these
files? Please please could someone
throw light on this?! Many thanks.

As far as I know, the only resource in a Finale file is the PRec resource that stores information about the page setup for the printer. This resource is not essential: you can still open a Finale file which doesn't have it and the resource will be re-created when you re-set the page setup. If the data forks are complete, you should be able to open the files: you'll just have to try it out.

If there is something wrong with the
resource fork, you can use ResEdit to
create a new one. This may not bring your
files back from the dead, but it's
something to try. Let me know if you need
more info.
