Dear All,

Is there any way for a plug-in to tell how many pages there are in a given document.

Dave,

Are you aware of the new (F2k4) total number of pages text tool insert?

Hi Richard,

That must of passed me by!! I am still waiting on my 2004 upgrade to arrive here in the UK. Still I should better as I helped beta test!! However I do have a hidden agenda, once the remaining printing problems in the Mac version of 2004 have been ironed out, I would like to try and get some sort of Finalescript/Applescript/Plug-in, that would "get" the number of pages in a document and print to the appropriate paper tray i.e 1 page would go to an A4 tray, 2 pages would go to an A3 tray 2-up, etc. Unfortunately at the moment there is no Applescript support beyond UI scripting in OS X, and as far as I can see no conditional scripting in Finalescript yet.
Anyway, I would imagine the total number of pages text tool insert must "get" its information from somewhere.

Dave,

Go to the File Menu > File Info and click on the "Statistics" button. There you will find the number of pages along with some other info. This has been in Finale for as long as I can remember. I don't about 2004 'cause I don't have it yet.

The button "Statistics..." in File Info is still there in F2K4.
