Just for fun, I tried to see if it would work with Finale. It does and sounds great. If you are doing any jazz, rock or Latin charts, you might give this a look. Addictive Drums is a huge upgrade from the drums that are in the Garritan Jazz & Big Band package, for example. Not cheap, but it goes a long way toward making your Finale playback sound very realistic. | Back to Top | |

All the above posts related to using AD2 as a synth to play percussion notes that had already been entered into Finale. This generally works pretty well if you use the AD2 setting to select General MIDI as the note map.
Another powerful part of AD2 is the library of canned beats. This is extensive and includes a system for customizing the canned beats further to taste. I have several of these libraries. When I use them with SONAR, I can simply drag the beat file right into a SONAR MIDI track and the playback is completely compatible. It sounds the same when the MIDI is in SONAR as it does when I audition the beats directly from within the AD2 window.
I want to do the same thing in Finale -- i.e. I want to copy the AD2 beats into Finale and have them play back correctly through the AD2 synth. (I sure wish Finale allowed you to drag a MIDI file directly into the current score, but that's another issue.)
When I copy the AD2 MIDI file into my score, the mapping is all wrong. I think I must need a customized percussion map in Finale that matched what AD2 is using in its beats files. Has anybody done this? I have searched and cannot find any reference to such a percussion map. | Back to Top | | Forum Information | Currently it is Tuesday, December 19, 2023 7:59 PM (GMT -6) There are a total of 403,820 posts in 58,165 threads.
