I have a file where each system is a separate example. The 2nd example ends with a tie, and that makes the 3rd example start with the end of that tie, which I don't want. I've tried unchecking "tie end" in the edit frame box but I can't get it to stay unchecked. I've also tried moving the first measure of the 3rd system to layer 2, but since the examples are in rhythmic notation, that just causes the notes to disappear. I know there must be a solution to this but I'm stumped.

One suggestion is to drag the tie end off the page with Special Tools. It will still play back, but gives the look you want.

P.S.: Another thing to do is to change the pitch of the first note of the measure. Since it is rhythmic notation, the look will be the same, but the tie won't show.

Ah, brilliant on both accounts. Don't know why changing the pitch didn't occur to me. Thanks!
