There is now a plug-in that allows you to do this. It is free (at least for now) at www.Recordare.com

I can finally stop doing initial music entry using Finale 98 so that friends can read my work who don't have 2002 0r 2000 or 2001, etc., and then importing it into the latest version of final so that I can put the finishing touches in place.
