I haven't been able to change to various mutes (Trumpet and French Horn). I'm using Garritan Concert and Marching Band (because I need a Euphonium
part) with Kontakt 2. I have not been able to find helpful information in either the GCAMB manual or the Finale 2010 manual. Help! Ray Downey

I'm using:IMac Leopard 10.5.8 with 6GB RAM

I don't think there is a choice of mutes in CoMB... if there is a mute available, it will be a straight mute. This is why I use the brass from Garritan Jazz and Big Band - you can specify "straight" "cup" "harmon" "bucket" (might be one more, I forget).

woodwind specialist and doubler - Finale 2009b using Speedy Entry - no capslock, GPO 2nd ed. Full version, Garritan Jazz & Big Band, Garritan Concert and Marching Band, Windows Vista 32-bit SP1, 4GB RAM, Soundblaster Audigy II zs

If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read

I haven't used French horns from the Garritan Concert & Marching Band, so I don't know if they have mutes, but the trumpet should play with (straight) mute when indicated.

Did you choose instruments from the Notation section of samples?

Jesper

Don't forget that you need to load the KS version of the samples.

Thank You for your responses. Yes I'm using the notation version of GCAMB (Garritan Concert and Marching Band) and I've
selected the KS versions of the instruments. With the expression tool I've entered the type of mute under Technique Text.... clicked on the playback tab but I have no idea of what to select next. When I access Human Playback preferences I see the
codes for the mutes but I haven't found in the manuals where to enter them. The GCAMB manual says that for Trumpet,
Straight Mute is A1 and Cup Mute is B1 and French Horn Straight Mute is A-1. Any more information would be most helpful.
Thanks-Ray Downey

You don't have to do anything under the playback tab of the expression. HP does it all automatically.
Here's a test 2010 file, with the trumpet KS patch loaded and various mute changes.

Jetcopy! Thanks for your input and time. I listened to your test and was able to recreate a similar test with favorable results. I'm sure human error was
involved on my part... I will have to retrace my steps, perhaps when setting up my template I didn't use the notation version. Thanks! Ray

P.S. Your test had nice ambience (Slight reverb) How did you achieve those settings?
