In trying the Finale 2002 demo I like everything about it except for one (big) thing: there don't seem to be any keyboard shortcuts for playback (stopping, starting and restarting at the same measure). I can't even get it to just play certain measures rather than start at the beginning each time.

I suspect there is someway to playback only certain measures (although I can't find it anywhere) but having to use the mouse to control playback is not the mark of a pro program -- more like something *I* would program :>) Am I just confused or is it truly missing this intregal piece?

Click on Playback Settings (the little loud speaker icon), and select where you want playback to start and stop.

or, you can simply press and hold the space bar, and click once for playback, without scrolling mind you, from where the cursor is on the screen.

Thanks to both of you.

It's really too bad it doesn't scroll during the spacebar trick, however. I assume that's on the wish list.

You can make your own keyboard shortcuts from >plug-ins>TG tools.

Well, as I understand it, I can only make shortcuts for those actions that are menued items. Since there is no menu item (or other shortcut key) for starting playback, TGTools won't do what I want.

But I'm going to look at the PDK to see if I can't generate something myself.

I asked for scrolling space bar playback a long time ago. Some people actually said they donĀ“t want to see the music scroll.

It should at least be an option.
