I've just recently begun using 2012c in OS Mountain Lion. Each time I begin using a new edition of Finale, I rebuild all my templates from scratch using the document without libraries and setup new libraries.

When I copy music from a new 2012 file and paste/insert it into another 2012 file, the font of dynamics changes from Petrucci to Maestro.
For example, a mezzo-piano dynamic in a 2012 file I create displays as Petrucci, but when I insert the music and attached dynamics into another 2012 template, it changes to Maestro.

All settings for expression categories are set to Petrucci in all my templates, and my default music font is Petrucci as well. I've never encountered this problem in previous editions of Finale. Any ideas?

At the very least, in previous versions, whenever I inserted music to another file the attached expressions, articulations, etc. would be added to the libraries and display as is if they weren't already found in the library.

I forgot to mention, the same problem is occurring with articulations as well. Articulations are being changed to Maestro instead of remaining as Petrucci. Noteheads, clefs, etc. and all other music notation stays at Petrucci though.

I think, for us to test this behavior, we might need to see 2 files to experiment with the behavior to see what's up. There are variables.

Here are 2 files if anyone wants to test with them. Interestingly, copying/inserting from the Lead Sheet file to the Piano file is where the issues occur. But copying music and dynamics/articulations from the Piano file to the Lead Sheet file seems to work fine.

Both files have a default font of Petrucci, and I only looked at dynamics, and then articulations, but also Petrucci. No Maestro anywhere.

So, what are we trying to do?

Zuill

P.S.: I see now. I will have to spend time to see why. For expressions, the quick fix is to move the dynamic (or other expression) to the category that has the other dynamics and it will take on the Petrucci font. As far as articulations, i'll investigate later.

I am not sure this is truly a bug with finale, as opposed to a bug in these files. I created 2 new files and did not get this behavior at all.

My guess is that it has something to do with the setup of the files. I can't say exactly where the files have gone wrong, but I can say that Finale has some things hard wired and some things under user control. For example, a file without Libraries still has Expression categories, although empty. You can duplicate these, but you can't delete them. You can, however, delete the duplicates. There is some interesting configuration of the files in terms of empty categories and duplicates. I'm guessing there might be some connection to the problem.

As far as articulations are concerned, I'm sure there is also some connection as to how the files were set up.

In the Piano file, I fixed the behavior with both Expressions and Articulations by changing the default music font to Maestro, then back to Petrucci. It seems to have "cured" things.

Zuill,

I changed the default music font to Maestro and then back to Petrucci in the templates and that has fixed the issue for me as well. Perhaps I did something wrong in the way I setup the files, but since the problem is fixed for my purposes, I won't bother pursuing the actual cause anymore.
Thanks for your help.
