Hi all, hoping I can get some quick help here. I'm recording a competent pianist, and have tried a couple of techniques so far, but am having a lot of trouble. He can play in time but the input lag from the midi device we're using (Saffire USB 6) is so bad (~.5 sec) that Finale is interpreting the rhythms horribly wrong. Hyperscribe is a problem because he's having trouble playing the quick 3 beat of the tune with his foot on the pedal as he plays - he's really used to playing the piece on regular piano using the sustain pedal normally. Finally tried Transcription mode with the popup windows that show his performance. The problem I'm having here is that you're supposed to be able to record the "time" i.e. beat after the fact, but I can't get the tool to playback what he played. I'm missing something completely obvious I'm sure, but it's not explicit in the manual and I am at a dead end. This should be an easy project because he can play the piece perfectly. Any advice, either on defeating the input lag, or recording the "time" as I described?

Even with the best player and brilliantly prescient Hyperscribe settings, most people find they must do massive clean-up of the resulting transcription unless the piece is very, very simple.

To get the best results though, slow the tempo down enormously. Half speed or quarter speed perhaps. Makes the faster bits easier for Finale to interpret as well.
