So even if I want to make small changes, I always end up having to re-do the entire contents of a measure.
For instance, I have a half note rest followed by a rhythmic figure. I want to add an eighth note pickup before the rhythmic figure. With pencil and paper I would simply erase the half rest, change to dotted quarter and add the eighth note pickup.
With Speedy, any change I make it all shifts left and I have to rewrite the entire bar.
Is there a way to freeze notes in place so as to edit more freely?
Thanks! | Back to Top | |

Re-entering the rest of the measures is usually easier than what I do, which is to use the plugin to divide the note value of the note needing replacing, then changing the 2 parts to what you need. In other words, divide the half into two quarters, change the second to an 8th, then the first to a dotted quarter.

Then I would press the Insert key to toggle to Insert mode, and enter the eighth rest and eight note after the quarter rest.

If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read | Back to Top | |

BTW, my US keyboard has an "Ins" key in the cluster of keys above the arrow keys. The "|" does not function in this capacity on Windows.
