I have purchased Finale updates and upgrades for many years, dating back to who knows when. I have recently purchased 2012, which crashes. 2011 crashes, but 2010--on the new MacBookPro Lion--works ok.
However, after employing Migration Assistant (which does not work, really) 2010 contains no Library content and I wish to download that library to the computer.
How do I do that?
In the meantime, I would very much like to upgrade to at least 2011 but cannot do so now and the error message is too verbose and impossible to understand. What types of actions must I go through to make it work properly, in your opinion?
Thank you for your attention.
Yours,

(Please upload a TEXT .txt file containing the crash log text. DO NOT just paste it into the thread.) What Mac or disk did you migrate from? So on the same computer, 2012 and 2011 don't work, but 2010 does? From the moment they were installed, or at some point after that?
I concur that deleting the Finale preference file might be a useful starting point -- the 2012 file is at <user>/Library/Preferences/Finale 2012 Preferences. Note that the user Library is hidden in Lion. Select the Go menu in the Finder whilst holding down <alt> to choose the Library folder and display it in a Finder window.
Next, create a brand new user account and test the problem. If it works fine in the new user account, then the problem is something local to the original user account, like (another) preference file or cache.
Make sure you are not running any third-party software at the time, particularly anything that runs in the background continuously, or other Audio Units.
I agree that you should contact MakeMusic directly for support. "This is me helping."

I have opened a ticket before and the suggested actions are mostly too difficult to do, especially when deadlines are looming, which was the problem the last time. Now that I have more time, I may be able to understand what they are asking me to do. I fear that just downloading 2012 again may just repeat the problem but maybe you are right, in this instance.
I will try it out and see what happens.
Thanks!

For certain, I cannot copy the error text and place it into a thread, as Lion won't let it happen. Migration: from OS 10.4.11 Same computer: 2010 works, but both 2011 and 2012 crash upon launch. Thank you! Yours,

I have submitted a support case for this problem now and am awaiting a response after having discovered the trick regarding accessing the crash report. Again, thank you!
