However, this doesn't happen for me. Sometimes, we can find a cause by examining a file.
I haven't heard v25 erases other versions. If this is the case, I would be surprised.

There weren't very many.
It appears that it was a Windows problem, not originating in Finale, namely on several occasions the Windows CheckDisk process has deleted, then recovered "orphaned" files, placing them in a different folder than where they belonged. I once had a stack of emails removed from a personal email account and attached to a corporate account. In this case, I yesterday opened the third movement of the quartet and discovered that Windows had attached, without clefs or measure bars, a long string of notes from the second movement. The second movement was not changed, just a segment was copied and pasted onto the end of the third movement. I deleted the spurious notes, and the file worked OK.
So it's all OK now, and I know how to deal with the problem if it occurs again. Meanwhile, I will extend my practice of saving multiple copies of my work at stages of development.
(Yes, I know, I need to reinstall Windows to get rid of the corrupted bytes.) Fifty-one per cent of smart is knowing what you're dumb at.

I have found this is the best way to stave off these kind of problems. These folders can be placed anywhere, as long as your preferences point to them. I have one for Finale 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2014.5, If and when I get v25, there will be one for that as well.

For example: Quartet A, Quartet B. etc Then each of those folders contains a folder for each segment of the work -- Mov I, Mov II, etc. And finally, each of those folders contains the various progressive revisions along the course of its composition. For example, my Elegy for Cello and Piano, titled "Heather in sorrow" (written for the occasion of the tragic death of my granddaughter's best friend) is saved in various versions along the way as -- Heather-a, Heather-b, etc. -- some of these consisting of minor changes I might want to change my mind on, such as clef assignments for the cello. I can go back to an earlier partial or complete version at any time.
None of these are Temp files. Each is a full permanent file, saved to both internal and external hard storage as well as the cloud. Storage is not a problem. Finale *.MUS files are not large, and storage is cheap. The first computer I bought had a 5 Mb 8-inch hard drive that cost over $1000 to replace. Now you can get a Terabyte internal drive for around $60. There's no reason not to pile on storage in excess. I have several external drives totaling about 15 terabytes, rigged for automatic incremental storage. Saving 100 Mb *.WAV files along with their related Finale *.MUS files is no problem. The cloud storage (Carbonite) is the final recourse, not as fast and easy to recover from as well-organized local storage, but safe against all contingencies. I lost all my computer files in a fire in 2007, and it will never happen to me again. If I don't have time to grab my external drives and run, I can still recover most everything from offsite. Look in preferences to see where the temp files are going. iI each version has them going to the Windows Temp folder, that might be your problem. Finale might be mixing things up between different sessions of Finale, or between different versions. Finale leaves temp files behind when closing. You might have hundreds, if not thousands of those. Because I have them in discreet folders, I can find them and, when Finale is closed, delete them. They are not longer needed once Finale closes.
If my explanation is not clear, maybe someone else can try to explain it better.
