I have a question that must be so simple it's obvious, but it's got me stumped, even after having gone all through the manual and 'Finale Power', as well as searching posts on this forum.

In Simple Entry, is it possibile to select groups of notes (Ctrl+Click) to edit them? Say, if I want to flip the stems on all the notes in a passage. Can I select All the notes at once and type 'L' to flip all their stems, or do I have to do this one note at a time?

In Sibelius, this is a cinch. You just highlight the first note you want, hold down Shift, and tap the Right Arrow. Is that too simple for Finale?

Will someone please have pity on me?

Thanks!

click the first note of a group, then press l.... the whole group flips stems... but yes, there's no CTRL-Click in simple entry, is there ?

I believe you need the Mass Mover tool (is that still around - I'm using 2000....). From there you can select whatever you need to edit. As you said, this is done in Sibelius without the extra tool being used - one of those things that makes them seem very different, but in reality shows they are very similar. Once you get used to using Mass Mover to select passages, it will work both smoothly and quickly.

Mass Edit > Utilities > Freeze Stems Up
                            > Freeze Stems Down
                            > Remove Stem Changes
Also if you have more than one layer active, you might want to first show only the active layer so the other stems are unchanged.
