For example, if you are using Aria VST for playback in Finale, and you are planning to use the Aria VST in your DAW, you need to make sure you initialize the Aria engine in Finale before exporting the MIDI (perhaps the easiest way to do that it to start playback in Finale -- you don't have to play the entire piece).
I had a problem once when I opened the MUS file in Finale, and exported MIDI without loading the VST engine. When I imported the MIDI into my DAW, all the CC were incorrect because they had GM/SoftSynth settings (such as using CC 7 for volume instead of CC 1 that most of the Garritan instruments were expecting, etc.). After I played the piece in Finale and exported MIDI again, I got a completely different set of CC data in the file that worked as expected when I imported it into my DAW.
I'm not good at explaining, and probably made this sound more complicated that it is. Easiest thing I found to do is to remember to start/stop playback before exporting MIDI, and then you will get what you expect. Best Regards, Ernie

If you want to keep the HP effect, always export from Finale to MIDI with the right vsti loaded.
Then use the same vsti in your DAW.
Also, with most vsti, you can save your instruments selections as multi or combi...
So it is easier in your daw to load all your instruments

In a small sample test that I did, most of the controller data imported with the MIDI file EXCEPT for tremolo. Is there something that I need to setup differently in that case?
thanks, Tommy | Back to Top | | Forum Information | Currently it is Tuesday, December 19, 2023 8:20 PM (GMT -6) There are a total of 403,820 posts in 58,165 threads. In the last 3 days there were 0 new threads and 0 reply posts. View Active Threads
