I do this alot and I get tired of having to select mass edit...select transpose...then go to down octave......is there an easier and shorter way to do this in finale 2004?

Thanks!:-)

You can program up to four keys, 6-9 for any transposition you want. I have 6 as up an octave, 7 as up an octave and preserve the original note. Then 8 transposes down an octave and 9 is transpose down an octave and preserve the original note.

From The Mass Edit Tool (Chapter 27 for 2004)

To program a Transposition Metatool
Click the Mass Edit Tool. Press shift and a number key (6-9). Finale displays the Transposition
dialog box; set the transposition you want to program. Click OK.

To use a Mass Edit Metatool, select the measures you want to affect. Press the appropriate number key on your computer keyboard.

While in simple entry, you can just drag the note down or up.

As long as you have the same length note specified in the simple entry note box, just click and old on the note that you want to move, and drag it up or down an octave.  Just takes a couple of seconds.

In speedy, click on the note and drag it up or down. Hold shift to prevent any side to side movement. With a MIDI keyboard, just position on the note and press the note you want and then hit enter. There are many ways to do things.
