So I use the resize tool to fit staves on the page, particularly for orchestral scores, and I like that I can make it different for the 1st page and then the same for all pages after that.
But whenever I hide a staff that isn't needed in an orchestral score, I have to RE-do it for that one page, which is a real drag and wastes so much time.
Is there a way around this?
Sibelius lets you snap the bottom staff to the margin on ALL pages so you don't have to worry about that - it's more about the spaces in between staves that change depending on how many staves you have. Is there a way to do this in finale - I don't want to have to waste time experimenting with each page all the time - it's slowing down my work!

Thanks!

If you, after hiding the empty staves, are satisfied with the spacing between staves, use the JW Space Systems plugin (native) to distribute the systems.

If you need to spread out the staves, use Staff tool>Respace staves and use one of the options there, for instance increase the percentage. Then do what I said above.

AFAIK, there is no such thing in Finale like "optimize staff spacing" or what it is called in Sibelius. I guess that's what you are referring to?

Thanks.
Optimise staff spacing in Sibelius is okay SOMETIMES for some sections, if the music is complex, but actually in Engraving Rules you set the space between each staff, and you can set to add more for lyrics or between different sections or to allow more space for tempo marks etc (like above Vln1) and then when you select all you go "reset space above staff" and/or "reset space below staff" and if you set it up correctly this is a perfect way to get scores uniform. There is also an "align staves" feature which is wonderful. I'm finding some similar things in Finale but it's not as obvious as it is in Sibelius.
But I really should stop talking about Sibelius (as you can see I'm a Sib expert trying to get used to Finale now) ...

More importantly - I don't have that plugin -
where do it get it?
Can you tell me more about plugins?
Why isn't this just automatically built in to the program?
Thanks.

Jari's other plug-ins are at finaletips.nu. You really should check them out, lots of useful ones.

Some of his, Robert Patterson's and Tobias Giesen's plugs are included in Finale, but not all.
