Hi all,

I've created a line with an arrowhead, that is designed to show the musicians how their parts link up. I've put it into the score, however it goes across a number of staves that aren't playing. I'd like to hide the line as it crosses these staves (I've seen it done in contemporary music scores before). Is there an easy method - possibly a staff style - that I can use to hide the line across these staves? I've attached a screenshot for clarity.

Many thanks!

Regards,
ANDREW HARRISON

Thanks Ralph. That's an option, of course, however I'm just trying to avoid wasting time lining up small dashed lines across staves. It's also a killer on my eyesight after sitting in front of a computer for hours. :-)

Have you used guides? They can help lining your lines up.

Select all of the lines ("draw a lasso" around the handles). Right click on the handle of one of the lines and select "Align Vertically" from the menu. That will align them.

Make the lines in very close to the places you want them. Hod the shift key when you draw them to make them vertical. Then elect both lines (assuming you're using smart shapes) and in the contextual menu (right lick) select align vertically. they'll now be vertically aligned. The line that they click into alignment with will be the one whose handle you right click on.

Now that they are aligned with each other and both selected you can drag or nudge them together to exactly the correct place.
