Just downloaded InstallSmartMusic8-5Win.exe (after paying for the school supported license) but it won't extract, I get a checksum error. Tried a second time, same problem. Am running Win XP Home on a fairly new (<1yr) HP computer. I have cable internet access with Comcast - my connection seems pretty solid, never had download problems before. Any suggestions?

The SmartMusic download should really be an install of last resort. If you purchased a school-sponsored home subscription, you should have received a CD-ROM with it. I would recommend contacting your teacher at the sponsoring school to see if they can loan you a CD just to get installed. Since you already have the subscription, that's all you need.
