I can not update my Finale 14 to Finale 14,5. When traying I read "Update Error" "Un error ocurred in retrieving update information; are tyou connected to the internet? Pleaso try again later".
Of course I am connected to Internet. I am trying since 10 hours.

Knows anybody the solution?

Are you talking about downloading the file or registering? Possibly there is a firewall situation. Since you're connecting from another country, possibly there is an internet provider issue that is causing the warning.

I am talking about (downloading) the update to Finale 14,5. from the open progran (Help) Finale 14.
Is there something I can do about the firewall situation. Much obliged.

Try downloading it directly from the MakeMusic website and see what happens.

I tried as you said. But from the web page dawnload says:¨ On Windows, navigate to Help > Check for Update…" what means I am send to the same place and procedure I started and could not.
Also I tried all places where hindly they say:"Contact us", but te "us" is always returning to same places where, anybody alive "except you" allows me to solve the upgrading.

Thans anyhow.

Try (temporarily) turning off any virus checker or firewall on your computer.

It's also possible that the website is down for maintenance, although it seems to be working for me.

Once you get to the login page, enter your user ID and password, and you should then get to a page with instructions and a download button near the bottom.

Have you tried logging into your MakeMusic account as has been suggested, then under the list of the products you own, tried the update from there?


Finale 2014.5

GPO5, JaBB3, GIO, COMB2, GWI, GIFF, Steinway Basic.

Windows 7; 10 GB RAM.

Just for kicks, I opened Finale and did a check for updates. It usually takes a second and then says I have the most current update. However, this time it took 15 seconds or more, then gave me an error message, suggesting I am not connected to the internet. Since I am, and know I am, I am assuming the MakeMusic server, regarding updates (and probably downloads), is having issues.

So, I am guessing that is what is happening to McDog. He might have to wait until tomorrow and see if things are back up and running.

I have already updated to Finale 2014.5 and it's in this new version of Finale that I get the "Update Error!"

But now I have made another big discovery: I downloaded again the 1014.5 version to try to reinstall it but when In try I get the message:

"This program does not support the version of Windows your computer is running."

Then I discocered on the Finale website that the older 2014 version of Finale I bought 3 years ago already does not support anymore Windows XP. But it installed and worked perfectly, and now even the new 2014d 5030 last version of Finale installed now runs very well on my XP SP3 computer, except for that "update error". So maybe the displayed error is in fact just the error of trying to check for a wrong update from a wrong version of Finale installed on a wrong operating system computer... So I cannot update Finale anymore, but it doesn't matter, as my 10 years old XP computer still runs at least 10 times faster than my new Windows 10 laptop. That's what we call "progress"...
