I am working on a piece and my problem
is that the vocal parts are in 3/4 and the
orchestra is in 9/8. The lyrics will be
garbles/ overlapping. But when all are in
the same meter, there are no problems.
Could anyone please help me solving
this issue?

The problem is that there is a bug that messes up spacing of independent time signatures. I've already asked Coda quite a few times to deal with this bug, but as yet nothing has happened. Do ask them as well (send message direct to Macsupport@Codamusic.com). For the moment it's better, if possible, to keep all staves in the same time signature and use tuplets when necessary.

PS The dictionary doesn't like "messes"! It suggests things like "masses" or "mosses"...

There is a kind of hybrid solution that may work for you.
First, set up the orchestral and vocal staves so that they may have independent time signatures (as no doubt you have already done). But then, enter all the parts in 3/4, using tuplets for the orchestral parts but not displaying any brackets or numbers.
Then in the Time Signature Tool, use 'Use a Different Time Signature for Display' to have all the orchestral parts display 9/8, even though they're really in 3/4.
Write if you need more detail.
