Hey friends

Quick Question. Does anyone know if there is (and how to apply) a keyboard shortcut for 'Showing Active Layers Only' in the Documets Tab of Finale 2012?

Muchos Gracias,

Mark

Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Shortcuts and program a shortcut via the Mac OS.

One thing - I programmed the shortcut for Finale 2012, but the dialog has defaulted to the latest installed version of Finale - 2014.5. However, I assure you that it does work for 2012. The shortcut toggles it on and off.

Any OS X shortcut that is created for one version of Finale will work on all versions of Finale, as they all use the same com.makemusic.finale.plist to save the preference.

Which is presumably how for some of us one or more of these shortcuts set up for a prior incarnation of Finale managed immediately to freeze the first version of F 2014 back in November 2013. Once identified it did all get sorted, though.

It's nice to know these shortcuts become available for all installed versions of Finale. I may start using them in place of QuicKeys for some instances.

However, not so nice that they seem to have caused problems in the past. It's nice to know that too, I guess.

I wonder why Finale doesn't have a shortcut for this on the Mac. On Windows it's Shift+Alt+S, (and Shift+Alt+2 for layer 2, etc.) Is there a conflict with a more global Macintosh key with whatever the equivalent of Alt is?

The manual (2014.5 Mac) is barren for that function. Devoid of shortcut.
