The addition of the Human Playback feature in 2004 has made new things possible but has also thrown a twist into the way I was use to using the program. I use to be able to use Hypercribe and/or the MIDI tool to set key velocities for certain notes. Unfortunately, Human Playback overrides any data created with the MIDI tool and relies primarily on Expressions to determine volumes. I figured that this would be a perfect time for me to use the Auto-Dynamic Placement plug-in. The plug-in is supposed to look at the MIDI data, and place Expressions in the score based on the key velocities in the MIDI tool. It works ok, except I am running into one problem.
Problem:
I cannot find a way to have it place an expression on every note where there is a change in velocity. It only seems to place them in the score if there is a significant change. Also, it seems to set the velocity to the default settings in the expression selection box. Is there way to use this plug-in so it uses the values that I set them to in the MIDI tool?
Anyone have any ideas how I can do this more easily? Hopefully I am just not using the plug-in correctly and there is way to do this. Otherwise, this would be a great plug-in for one of you developers to start working on. I’m sure there are a lot of other users who would like to be able to combine their MIDI data with Human Playback.
