I couldn't find an automatic labeling of chords, so I entered the names manually.
Several passes yield kind of odd results: some refused to recognize F#m, but then allowed me to enter F#min.
BUT: I used chord tool to name each first chord in a sequence. But only some measures, when played back actual
add this fairly loud organ like sound of the chord.
What am I doing to have this sound on some measures verses not on others. I am entering the chord names the same way every time.
So I guess I need to know where the chord sound is enabled from.

Oh as part of this question: how do I remove entered chord symbols if I have to remove them and start over
in order to get a consistent on or off of the "auto organ sound"?

We might need to examine the file to see what you've done. Can you attach the file here.

The sound patch used for the chord symbols can be defined in the Score Manager for each staff. Click on the arrow to see the layers and the chords. Define another midi channel for chords if you want another sound.
The playback of chord symbols can even be globally desactivated in the Chord menu (Enable Chord Playback), a choice that many of us prefer, as the range and voice leading are not satisfactory and as the chord symbols can interfere with the rest of the music. An alternative is to write the chords as notes in a specific layer, and hide it.

To delete a chord : in the chord tool, select the handle, backspace.
