I upgraded to 2004 for Windows (XP) and have been using it for a few months with no problem.
After not working with it for about 2 weeks, I opened the programs Sat. and discovered that all my notations are garbage. Lyrics appear where they should, but all notes and articulation are trashed. Even my cursor is strange. I'm seeing e-mail boxes, smiley faces, boxes, wavy lines, designs, etc. Playback works correctly. Thought I might hear people laughing and mailboxes slamming shut!
I'm thinking I've misplaced a font somehow. I just did a system restore back to Thurs. I had deleted files and some shortcuts and thought I might have deleted a file shared with Finale. Unfortunately, I also emptied my trash bin so that could have been the reason that system restore didn't fix the problem.
I checked my Windows program files and there are folders for Finale 2002 (plug ins and template folders) and 2003 (component files and plugins). Hate to sound so stupid, but I think I remember doing uninstalls for 2002 and 2003 on Sat. It seems to me 2002 and 2003 used to have shortcuts in my programs list and there aren't any there now. I could have just deleted the short cuts.
Will simply reinstalling 2004 correct this problem? If so, do I do an uninstall first?
Help. It's HORRIBLE to see my music looking like a bad dream.

It will then give you a big list of elements you can choose. Select the font items. | Back to Top

However, I didn't really read HOMR's post until after I'd done it on my own. Still, had I read the reply first, I'd have had a lower anxiety level. ;o) | Back to Top
