Finale isn't letting me change a single staff size. Even right clicking brings up a menu with change staff size option greyed out.

I can change notehead, note, and page sizes but not staff or system size.

Anyone know the deal?

Thanks in advance!

If I click somewhere in the staff (not on a note) I get the resize dialog box. Also, Staff is not grayed out when I right-click.

What program are you using? Are you in Page View?

Tried in both page view and scroll view.

I've clicked EVERYWHERE and get the same lack of response.

I thought it might be a preferences setting, or document or other global setting but I can't figure it out.

Really need to figure it out, though. Can't make these page turns work without it!

As Bill suggests, something "happened" to the sensitivity of the Resize Tool, at least in Finale 2010 and perhaps in your 2009. Try clicking in the white space between the clef and key or between the key and time. You have to be pretty deliberate and precise. If necessary, zoom in to 400% or so until you get the hang of this new feature.

If this absolutely does not work, try the standard "Trash Preferences" and restart. You don't know how many times this has refused to work for me.

N.

EDIT - Wait - this inconvenience is so befuddling I'm still screwed up. Forget the above, click AFTER THE TIME, BEFORE THE MUSIC, or AFTER THE KEY, BEFORE THE MUSIC.

I loved your performance of the Bruckner 8th. I was at the back of the balcony and stood for the entire time.

So did I.

Thank you all!

Figured it out. It is pretty sensitive, and I wasn't clicking quite in the right place.

I needed to click in an actual measure, between notes, to get the staff size and system size menus to pop up.

Thanks for taking the time in answering Bill and N!

The zooming idea is a good one, a well. Thanks, N!

Updating to F2011 is an even better idea... IMO it's the best release of Finale since F2006. I'm loving it.
