(Expressions, chords, Smart shapes, etc...) It is the equivalent of setting a filter to only copy that type of item and then pasting it in a different location. Control-click-drag-to-make-a-copy will be quicker. Setting a filter every time is time consuming. Especially since Finale doesn't let you save your most used filter settings. 2 Save filter settings and be able to name them and access them with a meta tool. 3 Have "explode" default to the staff you have selected. 4 Let us leave the chord window open when entering chords. This way you can always see the suffix numbers in case you don't have some of them memorized. 5 Let us Drag and drop chords in the chord window so you can easily drag the most used chords to another position. 6 Have a graphical representation of all settings in the documents settings area. Instead of only using unintuative numbers (Great if you know exactly what you want) you should also be able to see what you are changing by looking looking at a graphic that changes based on your settings. Line thickness, spacing, etc... Also add up and down buttons to adjust each setting instead a box to input a number. Then you could increase or decrease a setting and stop when you see what you want. (graphically displayed on screen) 7 Have a tempo graph that you can edit when using tempo tap. If you got most of your tap correct and only made a little mistake you could edit your mistake easily without having to retap the section. 8 Have the number of bars selected (with the selection tool) on screen. This is very useful when you are recopying an arrangement and you are entering parts to make a score. If a part has a 16 or 32 bar rest (or more) you won't have to worry about counting the number of bars you have selected. The info could be displayed in the info area at the bottom of the screen. 9 Fix the stuck notes problem (2010) 10 Fix the bug where Finale will lock up when you edit a drum part in page view, and sometimes in scroll view. (2010) 11 Update the chord editor to make it easier to use. 12 Add the ability to have non contiguous selections. 13 Make 1, 2 endings magnetic so you know they are perfectly aligned without having to zoom in or use the menu option to align them. 14 Add the control-down-arrow and Control-page down/up short cut to be able to copy smart shapes to other staves. (Like you can with expressions)
15 Have out of range notes turn a different color without having to apply a plug in. Thanks Ron for letting me know they have added this. 16 Have the current tempo displayed on screen. Useful when you are using tempo tap or an rit/accel. expression to change the tempo.

I agree about updating the chord tool. Sometimes I put chord symbols above slash notation and sometimes it's above written music. It's really annoying to have to move each chord high enough to not run into the written music in those sections, but I wouldn't want the chords that go with the slash notation to be incredibly high just because that's how high they need to be to avoid written music. So maybe include an option that prevents chords from running into written music without having to move them individually. | Back to Top | |

Especially now that Copy-paste allows multiple paste in one hit. (Can't remember if that was in 2010 ... ?). Also it is now possible to apply expressions to several staves at once using a metatool - don't think that was in 2010?
Never really thought about No. 3, but it does seem obvious that nine times out of ten, the top part of an exploded chord is going to be left in the source stave.

Hi Jari,
I have been sending some of these suggestions to them for at least 5 years. Maybe longer.
