Let's say you have a part which splits into divisi beginning on a new page, the previous page is in bass clef, and the divisi staves are treble and tenor clef. What do you do about cautionary clefs? Split early?

I'd just stay with the bass to treble courtesy. If it's a cello part, you'd think the added stave beginning in tenor clef would be no problem.

Right, a cello part. Actually cello and bass, so it goes from two staves to three.

How about this? You can see the inserted measure to hold the clefs. Adjust width and hide barlines as needed.

Hah, my very question! Thanks--I like your "double clef" idea, too.

The division consists of one staff for solo cello and one for the others. This begins on the facing page. Since one has to look up and absorb how to divide before playing, perhaps one is more apt to pay attention to the new clefs and no cautionary is needed...

I must be missing something. Wouldn't the simplest solution be the one I mentioned at then end of the Notat.io thread:

Make the measure that contains the precautionary clefs the first measure on the NEXT page. The first measure on the next page will then start with 3 normal clefs and end with precautionary ones. Of course, this will cause the divisi split to be shown one measure earlier than at present; but that wouldn't be a problem.

The better the composer, the better the notation.

Makes sense, but not an option in this case (it's existing music). I decided to leave it alone.
