I have a Yamaha PSR-293 keyboard that I would like to connect to my Mac OSX 10.9.5. However, my keyboard doesn't have MIDI outputs, only a USB. I have a cable that connects the USB port on the keyboard to the computer, but Finale does not recognize the keyboard. Is there something I need to be doing, or is this sort of connection not possible without MIDI outputs on the keyboard?

It might be a driver issue.

Make sure it is set up properly in the Apple Audio/MIDI Setup app.

Generally, if a keyboard has a USB port/lead, then it should "just work" when you plug it into a Mac.

You might have to set it up as a new device in Apple's Audio/MIDI Setup utility. Then it should be auto-detected by Finale. However, it's worth testing in another app, such as Garageband, to see if the problem is the computer as a whole or Finale in particular.

However, there are some known problems with Yamaha keyboards and Finale, so you might want to check the Finale Knowledgebase or raise a Support Request to ask about your particular hardware.

my suggestion the same as above, check:
Midi/Audio / Device setup / Midi/Internal Speaker setup, the input Device should be auto-detected.
