I can't get Finale 25 to remember my Default Document. In Prefs, I enter the name, hit Apply, then Document>New>Default Document opens the prober template. Once I quit and relaunch, however, I get the Maestro Default Doc as the default, and the name field is blank in prefs. WTF???

Thinking I'd trash the prefs, I went looking in User/Library/Preferences, and while there are prefs for many earlier versions, there is no pref file for Finale 25- ???

Thanks

Bill

Did you Save Preferences under the File Menu?
The Pref Folder was renamed, it's one of the current threads somewhere...

Hi Bill

Something similar came up on the windows side. This is the first I've heard about it here.

MM have said that they will work on it for the next release.
If you're having issues (and possibly get someone else to verify) contact support and refer them to the windows thread. Tell them that it's hapenning on the Mac as well.

Cheers...

Daz. :o)

Well who would ever think you have to manually save preferences. That's so illogical and different than any other app I've ever used I'll have to think about why designers would make that decision!

However it didn't help.

I'll contact Tech Support.

OK, I found the prefs file and it is getting updated when I manually save it, but Def File name still doesn't stick. Could someone else please verify that this is bug?

Thanks

Bill

Hello Bill,

I can verify that this is indeed a bug, has been fixed, and will be available in the next update.

I titled the file I wanted to use as Maestro Font Default, and added another word to the one that was already there.

I actually prefer it this way. Sometimes I'll change something temporarily, like a palette position, automatic music spacing, or not showing the tool palette, but I don't want Finale to implement this permanently. My problem comes with Finale's remembering some parameters only when saving the preferences manually and other parameters automatically.

Man, would it be nice to have a list of verified bugs available, so that we don't have to waste time tracking down what makes a bug show up. I bet Bill spent a good long time trying to figure out what was going on, as I have on numerous occasions.

In Fin 25, I saved the Document Options in the Maestro Font Document Styles Folder, and applied and saved,
but the Lines and Curves Staff Lines and Leger Lines values haven't stuck.

This situation was driving me bonkers until I found this thread. I was trying to find where the Finale prefs are stored, resetting folder/file permissions etc. A bit of a silly bug to creep in.

I guess Doc Options have to saved and loaded as a Library.

Document Options and Application Preferences are different things. There shouldn't be any problem applying and saving Document Options within a document. Are there?

No, but I would like All Docs to have the same Doc Options, so I don't have to remember to change each one manually.
