Hello there! I am about to purchase an upgrade to Finale 2011 from Finale Printmusic 2009, and I have one question regarding it. The reason I am upgrading is because I recently upgraded my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 because my OS was completely trashed. I had to do a clean re-install, which meant everything was wiped from my hard drive, including PrintMusic (luckily, I backed up all my .mus files). Finalemusic.com has my serial number for Printmusic registered already, so I have that prepared if needed, but what I want to know is this: does Printmusic need to be installed on my computer in order for the upgrade to work, or can I just download Finale 2011 and install it on its own?

… but the Finale 2011 dvd will have a full install/program and is not dependent on a previous PrintMusic version.

Incidentally, MM have announced that Finale 2012 will be the first version available as a download. If you are buying now, I would in any case suggest that you check with them if they will allow you a free upgrade to 2012 since it must .... surely .... now be just around the corner. Buying 2011 at this point would be a waste.
