Hi there,
I've been using Finale 2001a a lot more recently and I've noticed that about half the time I shut it down, after its closed I get "Finale has caused an error in Kernel32.dll, it will now close. Try rebooting your computer if it continues (which doesn't fix the problem)." There is no rhyme or reason why this error occurs. Sometimes I listen to my longer pieces and edit them for an hour and I don't get it, but sometimes when I just listen to one short piece, I close it down and I get the error, sometimes I don't. It really doesn't affect much, just the list of what pieces I worked last but it is annoying. So, please help!

Okay, so what exactly does ctfmon.exe deal with? I want to know so if I disable it, I'm not losing a file that Word depends on since I use Office XP a LOT.

William:
Ctfmon.exe has to do with the voice recognition features of Office XP. If you're not using a microphone with Office, you can disable that file without any evil repercussions.
Cheers.

Also, I can rename it back to ctfmon.exe and make the voice thing if necessary work later, right? (Sorry, I'm computer illiterate)

Yes, you can change the name back and it will work.
