Now that it's there, you can make it invisible, though that won't remove it from playback. Simple and Speedy options include Fill the Measure With Rests that can be turned off. | Back to Top | |

Date Joined Jul 2004 Total Posts : 1863 | Posted 9/28/2004 5:37 PM (GMT -6) | | When in Simple Entry, click on SIMPLE at the top of the screen, the unclick FILL WITH RESTS AT END OF MEASURE, then erase the unwanted rest. The rest will still occur on playback but if staring another verse afterwards, most people would be grabbing a breath about then so it shouldn't be a real problem. If it is, the hidden time signature change will take care of it.
Strictly speaking, the pickup notes are borrowed from the last measure. In the real world we live in, I see this rule violated in commercial music so often I don't even worry about it anymore. I bend or even break a lot of rules if makes the music easier to read or sound better. How you treat it depends on your target audience.

I agree. It really only makes sense as a "rule" in simple song forms where you repeat from the end back to the beginning. In anything more complex it makes no sense at all. | Back to Top | |

With Finale - Guitar I've been translating years of ensemble music I've collected and I'm just now listening and playing along with it. This is great.
