I've tried to burn the disc image to an optical disc and I just get a very FAST burn (like 5 seconds). Toast will go through the whole 3 minute thing and then produce a disc that is "not Readable" by my Mac. I've had no problems on the previous version nor have i on other disc images. Did Make Music do something to this image????

What OS?

Internal drive or USB external?

What version of Toast? If not 14.1 and on a USB, reboot and try again.

Apple Disk Utility can do it, also. Toast is not necessary for this.

Why burn a disk image? Why not a data file to a DVD?

14.1 (3862)

It is the most recent version but.. seeing as how I can't burn it in Disk Utility (I can burn the disk image file to a disk however), I don't think Toast is the problem. I have burned other images since upgrading to El Captain with no problem including some today..there seems to be an imaging problem with the image.. it will install Finale okay but just won't burn. (in either toast or through Disk utility.)

OK...

Just for kicks, I tried it and was successful. Then I did it again in Disk Utility.

What exact error message are you getting? It sounds like either the burnt disc is corrupt, or possible the disk image itself is. Try another disc, and/or re-download the image.

You were successful using both programs???? Technically in El Captain you don't use disc utility to burn a disc... You use the OS itself. Thing is it worked for two other disc image programs but not for Finale... Even after I re-Downloaded it... I did however copy the disc image to a DVD with no problem.

I've tried Multiple times on multiple discs including regular DVD's and Dual layer. The result is the same. Disc Utility just finishes in a couple seconds and reports burning error. Toast makes it all the way through 97 percent then reports a bad sector from the disc image. I didn't write down the info but I don't care to turn another disc into a coaster. I will say I've burned other images earlier this week with not a problem.

Okay.. I finally got it to work. What I had to do was Mount the disc image.. and create a NEW disc image from the Mounted Image. The new disc image file did burn correctly!!! I don't know what was wrong with the one from Make Music and yes.. I did try re-downloading it several times. VERY WEIRD.
