Hi

Has anyone seen this, and if so is there a solution? I'm tearing my hair out (what's left of it)...

If I set a series of tuplets so that the first event in the tuplet is a rest, then COPY (not move) the layer to another layer, then tuplets that launch off a rest only display their number and bracket in the active layer, not in both layers. All tuplets that launch off a note behave normally (i.e. show on both layers)

Peter -
You're hiding the rest in one of the layers, right? I get the same result; the bracket/number seems to be taking visibility from the first note. I guess the workaround is to superimpose the rests...

I reported this to MM in December 2013! I reported it AGAIN in December, 2015.

My workaround:
If you have it turned on, uncheck Document Options>Layers>Consolidate Rests Across Layers. Then use JW Change>Rests>Vertical Level>0 to center the rests, while leaving the brackets in both layers. The full TG Tools works, as well.

MM's "solution":
1. Using Simple Entry, highlight the quarter rest and press S to split it.
2. Then, highlight the lower rest and press H to hide it.
3. Next, highlight the upper rest and move it down using the down arrow key.

Simple Entry, QWERTY keyboard, numberpad. That's my system, and I'm stickin' to it.

What happens if you just toggle the rest to a note and back?

Same thing. Bracket appears with a note, but disappears again with a rest.

The tuplet always takes its visibility from the attachment note or rest. Typical 'bad planning' bug.

If you don't want to turn the combining of rests off for the entire document, that can be turned off on a measure by measure basis manually. Even better, you can turn that off with Jari's JW Change plugin, then center the rests as Mike suggested. These 2 operations can be combined into a sequence within Jari's plugin for future use, so it becomes a one click operation.

Brilliant, thanks everyone. It's a pin, but fortunately not too many in this piece despite its complexity.
All the best
