I'm engraving a piece where grace-notes is used starting on a normal note. I put the grace notes in position with the Note Position Tool.
This is my problem: When changing the layout of the score the grace notes keep moving away from the normal note. How to keep the grace notes in place after editing the layout? See the the two attached pics for examples.

There are options for this in Document Options/Music Spacing. You might want to try Keep Current instead of Automatic.

I've been finding the Music Spacing options have unforeseeable/unexpected effects at times. If I had a passage like this, I would make it a tuplet with the brackets and numbers hidden, and resize the notes manually. I would also use different layers (probably Layer 2 for the full-sized note and Layer 1 for the small notes.)

I also have an articulation that is a blank character that I use for opening up extra space between notes. What I like about this is that it survives a respace. You need "articulations" checked as items to avoid collisions with in the Music Spacing options.

What I want to know is: what follows the grace notes? Grace notes behave one way when there's nothing following them, as opposed to when there's something following them. If we could see the Finale file, we could probably give better advice.

Since Klas is hiding the G under the main note; it's hardly surprising that Finale moves it away when respacing. If Keep Current doesn't solve it, he might have to save that adjustment to the end and turn off music spacing altogether at that point, or go Christopher's resize route.

I think you meant the G.

Anyway, I forgot to mention that Keep Current needs to have Manual Positioning: Incorporate to work. Works for me, anyway. Maybe we need more information, or a file.

Zuill

P.S.: This example uses Note Spacing with the afore mentioned settings. I manually spaced the grace notes the way I wanted.

Thanks for all advice!
Changing to Keep current did'nt help - the notes keep moving around. I could try the tuplet trick but since there are hundreds of this kind of figure i the piece it would take too long. Moving them after all the editing is done, as Motet suggests is probably the best idea.
