I have used Native Instruments Kontakt 5 with previous versions of Finale, but now that I just upgraded to version 25 Kontakt 5 doesn't show up in the VST lists. The files are still located in the same place and I have directed the program to search the appropriate vstplugin directories, but to no avail. How do I get Kontakt 5 back?

Finalev25 is a 64-bit application, whereas previous versions were 32-bit. You need to find a 64-bit version of your VST; the version you've been using is incompatible with Finale v25.

That being said, there were many users begging for 64-bit in order to use 64-bit VSTs. I would imagine NI has a 64-bit version of Kontakt you could download.

(I just checked their website, and they support both 32 and 64 bit, so check it out.)

NI doesn't name the two versions differently, so that can cause confusion.
