There is no tutorial as such ... as noted above ... or at least that can easily be found ...

The only doc is in the user guide Appendix A, pages 77-86.

If you take that info and work through the sample scripts provided (if you open the script editor you will see several scripts already present) you can get a good start.

After that its kind of hit and miss ...

Why does Finale make so much so difficult and complicated? Is there no easy, simple way to achieve a simple macro? It's a case of deciding whether or not to wade through their (inadquate) instructions or just repeat an action ad-nauseum! (Not sure which is better or quicker)

I believe Finale can be extremely good at doing that for which it was designed -- music notation & publishing. But it was written with little regard for the cumbersomeness & complexity its users would encounter. It's one of those programs you have to work with extensively for a long time before you are comfortable & proficient with it. Finale script is a plug-in independently created by developer Robert Piéchaud. It has many good features but is still in development. As I understand it, there wasn't time to fully develop & incorporate a great deal of the automation by the time Finale wanted to publish the latest upgrade & they have benn providing Finale script as a basic plug-in that can help significantly reduce some manual tasks the last several releases. Everyone who is highly reliant on Finale is eager to see Finale script developed to a more robust state. I am optimistic that its functionality & user-friendliness will be dramatically increased in later versions.
