'click' or 'press' command can be executed only if you have the default mouse click assignment. If you swap your LH/RH-click, than it will not work.
After I got injured working in Finale for weeks without break back in 2002, I need to occasionally to swap "main"-clicks and swap the hands. So the 'click' command doesn't work always.

That is just information, and perhaps an idea for MM programmers to alter the click-code.
