Hello,
[Today I wrote for the third time to customer support to get updates, to the previous ones I get no answer, this is not a good signal: let's see if something's moving.]
I'm still working with PDK 2000 :-(
I'm asking if somebody knows when will be a possible new release and if there is a preliminary documentation on what's new (in the pdk not in Finale, of course).
Thanks for any input,
Enrico

This is a question I have asked, several times ...

... without success.

It's almost as if MakeMusic are positively discouraging the development of third-party add-ons for Finale, which strikes me as more than a trifle bizarre.

Is this something to ask customer support? If they don't know they really should forward such enquiries on, but perhaps you should ask Carla to forward a message on to the Finale product manager directly, or senior developer, or whoever and ask them to get back to you.

Are you sending email, which should bounce back with the new link, or submitting a case? The new link is in my signature. If you put Ryan's name in the case subject, the case will get routed to him and I think he's been handling the PDK referrals.

Sorry you've gotten the run-around on this problem. We need an email address to send the link to.

Hope this helps!

Hi Carla,
I submited a case and got an automatic reply: "Your question has been received. You should expect a response from us within 1 business day." But after this, nothing.
I will open a new case as you suggest.
In the meantime I worked with the old PDK but now it's time to add new features and above all to understand if the plug-in development is the right choice, if MakeMusic will support it or not. Having a PDK dated 2000, with problems never solved, it's a bit confusing, sorry to be too frank.
So please, let's know if there's a path.

Regards,
Enrico

Update,
in the mailbox I got an answer, better a question. They ask me what's PDK. Good, someone's answering. I asked to address my case to Ryan.

Enrico

Probably was still in nappies (diapers?) when the PDK was last published ... lol

I wrote last week to the Customer Support, adressing Ryan or Beth in the subject, and in a few days they sent me an ftp address and password to download the 2003 PDK (much better documented than 2000) and 2007 PDK (early stage, basically just the header files).

I´m currently using the 2003 documentation to round off what I cant understand in the 2000 reference, despite the minor differences between the versions.

So was there nothing between 2003 and 2007? I guess that means that plug-ins can't yet handle things like engraver tuplets. Still, I'll see if I can get my paws on the 2003 version and try to find the inspiration to write the plug-ins I've been thinking about ...

Finally I received the link to download both the 2003 and 2007 versions. Still no plans for an official release, so we will use what we get.

By chance (chance=google) I stumbled upon this Finale 2004 Review on Jari Williamson's site where he states that the 2004 PDK is a considerable improvement on the 2003 version (scroll down nearly to the bottom of the page for the PDK section). I'm wondering why Tech support is only giving out a link to the 2003 version then ?

bump. Anyone know where we can pick up the newer version(s) of the PDK? 2004 or 2007 versions have been mentioned. I agree its really lame that MM is being so elusive about it. There have been a lot of people chomping at the bit to develop plugins for Finale for a long time now. Just imagine what could have been accomplished by now.
