Hi all,

This involves Finale 2009.

I'm working on a set of Preces and Responses, a structure that alternates between a Cantor's chant and a choir's response. I've got things laid out well, but I'm running into a strange problem with some of the Cantor's opening pitches. As you can see from the attached screenshot, the longa is being tied from somewhere. Not all longas have this problem and it also shows up when the piece is viewed in Scroll view: if the Cantor's measure is at the left edge of the scroll, the mystery pre tie appears. As soon as the view changes and the Cantor's measure is second or third from the left edge, the pre tie is not there. This anomaly has transfered to the Page view and that's a problem.

I suppose I could create a small graphic to cover up the pre ties, but I'd much rather figure out why they are appearing in the first place.

Any ideas?

If you select the note and hit SHIFT+T, does the tie go away?

If you use the Selection Tool, select all, then Utilities > Check Notation > Check Ties, do they go away?
