The triangles for altering the vertical position of chord are at first sight very easy and fast to use.
This is what I always used until today.
One known minus of this function is the impossibility to quickly restore the default position of the triangles.
You have to manually drag the triangles to the default position.
It does indeed helps if, during dragging the triangles, you have a look at the status line at the bottom of the screen.
One can view the offset value and restore it to zero.
It works well but this can be very difficult (even at 200% view or more) and very time consuming.
It seems as if a chord handle can be reset to his default position only if the position has been altered either manually or through the function "Utilities/Change/Chords".

These two threads sum up quite well what is possible and not possible:

If you want to alter the vertical position of chords but also keep the possibility to reset the position then use the "Utilities/Change/Chords" function instead of dragging the triangles.
. It can be as fast or even faster as dragging triangles as you can change the position of chords chords in more than one staff at once.
. It can also be more precise as one can define the relative vertical position with a value.
. There are to ways to restore the position: with Backspace or using the Utilities/Change/Chords

Here is how to use this function:

CHANGE
. Select the bars that contain the chords you need to vertically move with the Selection Tool
. Select "Utilities/Change/Chords"
. According to your need choose "Add to current Position" or "Add to Default position" and set a vertical value.
. Press OK

RESTORE
. Select the bars that contain the chords you need to vertically restore with the Selection Tool
. Select "Utilities/Change/Chords"
. Choose "Add to Default Position (not Current) and set horizontal and vertical values to zero
. Press OK

or:

. Select the chord(s) handle(s) you need to vertically restore
. Press "Backspace" (on Windows)

PS
Probably almost everyone here already knew this ;-)
Though I use Finale since 1995 I was not aware of this way to move chords and I laboriously dragged back and forth triangles!
I hope this can it can help someone else.

BTW
It would be extremely usefull if it was possible to:
. restore the default position of the triangles
. if one could type the offset value of the triangles

Could you select all measures and use Change Chord to reset the baseline?
Since I tend to set chord distances (when I use them) and measure numbers a system at a time (if necessary), it is not too hard to select all the chords/measure numbers in a line and press backspace to reset them.

Yes indeed, it is possible to select as much measures as you like on several staff.

Yes JW Change is really a great Plugin :-)
Thank you for mentioning it.

Notice that JW Change cannot reset the triangle position to default.
But it is indeed a great way to move chords.

The main thing in my first post is that if you think that you possibly need to be able to easily reset the vertical position of a chord you better do not use the triangles ;-)

There isn't a way to change the position of the triangles manually. With the triangles in the lyric Tool, one can do it by the numbers in the Lyric Positioning window, but the Chord Tool has no such option.
