Does anyone know if Finalescript has been implemented/updated for 2007? I can't seem to get finalescript to apply any staff styles so I hope that has been fixed.

I private messaged Robert P on 7/14 asking him about this and if Finalescript has been updated for 2007 but even though he has been on the forum numerous times, he hasn't responded to my message. Ignoring me would make me think that either he has dropped all development on Finalescript and it will stay the way it is or that it hasn't been updated or fixed for 2007 and that the same bugs (including the non-working staff styles) will still be there.

Anyone have any other information?

Thanks,
Ionian

Like anything with Finale...the more people express there interest in a bug, feature, or updating a tool within Finale the more likely it will be implemented. To my knowledge Finalescript has not been in any of those categories. In my opinion there have been bigger problems with the application itself to not warrant time put in to updating this wonderful plugin. I totally agree with the idea of updating Finalescript and I am currently pushing as many people as I can to write in and make MM know that you really want to see an update. Don't just put your 2 cents in on the forums...write to tech support.

I hope when 2007 comes out we will see an update but I am not holding my breath.

Thanks. I will write to tech support but I have to say that it's pretty discouraging when the creator of the technology won't even respond to messages! Makes me think that the future of Finalescript isn't too bright...

Makemusic! Don't depend on Robert P.! You guys should implement a system similar to the actions in Photoshop!

I've tried using macro programs but they're just too unreliable. :(

It isn't as simple as that. The better a feature is, albeit with occasional problems here and there, the more likely it is to engender a body of users demanding fixes and updates.

Something which is inherently limited or somewhat obscure, won't generate the same critical mass.

I'm afraid my sorties into Finalescript left me wanting so much more, that I gave up. Ionian's reference to PhotoShop actions, which are totally wonderful and built right into the heart of the application, show what could and should be done.

And for those who prefer a more programming-like interface, what about the wonderful Lisp-based CAL (CakeWalk Application Language)? A real, functional language based on s-expressions that lets you write pretty much anything you want!

I bought CakeWalk because of CAL. I use PhotoShop actions extensively. In my day job, I develop a programming language compiler (WIN-PROLOG). But I just can't get excited about Finalescript, sorry.

Which is why (apart from this posting) you won't see me bashing down the doors of MakeMusic demanding fixes!

Brian
