Over time I've grown less hasty in installing updates on a stable system. Things are working well for me with 2008a.

What would be my advantage for installing 2008b?

In the brief description given on the update page, I didn't see anything that particularly applied to my situation.

Thoughts for the cautious?

Thanks...

I believe the update only addresses issues of stability with Leopard. THere is no 2008b for Windows, for instance. (Or at least, not last time.)
So, there's an argument that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

However, as my grandmother used to say: "What's the worst thing that could happen......?" smilewinkgrin

There was some fixes dealing with hyphens in the previous "b" update. If you work with lyrics, I'd go for it.

On a side note. whenever a new update is posted, I duplicate the Finale program file, give it a slightly different name, and move it to another folder temporarily. Then I run the update which updates the program file which exists in the '08 folder. After the update, I move the archived program file back to the folder.

Now I'm able to launch any version of '08 that I choose: the original shipping version, A or B.

Hyphens was fixed in the a update.

There is, however, also an improvement to EPS output in b.

b is essential if you are using eps.
a was unusable in that case.

I am working all the time with the b-version without any problems. Only copied the palettes from 2007.
