I have been told that the new Finale 2005 works with third party sound plugins. However, upon my second call to Finale support, I was told something rather confusing. So, I come here where my ignorance is not quite as offensive :-). My question is this: I was told that I could use the Garritan Personal orchestra directly with 2005. Is this true ?
Or am I just sending the midi to play through KONTAKT which comes with Garritan. Also, my other question is can
I do this with the Miroslav Vitous Orchestra ?

Thanks for your help and advice as always.

Thomas

Yes, you can use Finale 2005 with Human Playback with GPO. You actually do your midi setup with the included GPO Studio as the output device. GPO Studio uses the Kontakt player as the interface you deal with when loading sounds. Be aware though, that you need a lot of ram to use GPO. 1 MG minimum is recommened. And a really fast processor. Your G4 877 is near the bottom of their specs. You won't be able to load a full orchestra with that setup. The only way you'd be able to record a full orchestra is to export your Finale midi file to a sequencer, and use a "freeze tracks" option to increase your track count. Go the the GPO forum at www.garritan.com to learn more.

I don't believe the Miroslav Vitous orchestra comes with it's own sample playback system, so you'd need something like Gigastudio to run it.
(by the way, this post probably should've been placed in the Mac Finale forum, no big deal)
