I have just upgraded to 2009 from 2001( I miss my 2001!), and cannot seem to make the instruments play back in the correct octave. I am writing music for string orchestra, and the Violin 1 staff plays back an octave lower than written. Violin 2 is just fine. While writing the music, it is sounding in the correct octave...only jumps down in the playback mode. Any thoughts???

You have posted in the area for "Finale Plug-in Development". You may get more responses if you post in one of the Notation areas, either for Mac or Windows.
My first thought is that your staves have transposition set in Staff Options.
